Inforse-logoMembership and structure
INFORSE International consists of 140 civil society organisations working in about 60 countries to promote sustainable energy and social development. INFORSE West Africa has 14 member organizations of which 9 are located in Senegal. The regional coordinator is Environment and Development Action in the Third World (ENDA-TM), based in Dakar.

Areas of work
The Network was established in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 to secure follow-up in the political decision sat the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). Our mission is then to work for sustainable energy solutions to reduce poverty and protect the environment. We work towards implementation of sustainable energy solutions through exchange of information, awareness creation, formulation and implementation of strategies, and lobbying of international forums.

Examples of advocacy (2011-12) and plans for 2013:
• The project contributed through OFEDI, a local NGO in Benin, to organise a meeting on the 22nd December 2011 in Cotonou, Benin, to provide feedback from the Durban negotiations. About 50 participants representing the National Comity on Climate change, civil society organisations, resources persons and donor and technical support institutions attended the meeting.
• Participation of network members at regional meetings and international conferences such COP17 in Durban. COP17 provided an opportunity for INFORSE members during COP17 to influence the key thematic policy areas.
• Articles and case studies for the Southern Voices international report and various INFORSE newsletters, such as a post-COP16 article highlighting the risk of driving vulnerable countries into climate debt to mitigate greenhouse gases have been elaborated and published in the INFORSE newsletter.
• Five case studies (one for Benin, one in Burkina Faso and three for Mali) have been elaborated.
• The case study for Benin describes the experience of OFEDI in using improve cook stoves to reduce wood fuel consumption and also as a mean for improving the resilience of the population of the local community of Zagnanado to cope with climate change impacts (more details in the case study report).
• Elaboration of a biannual Action Plan with advocacy activities for Reso Climat Mali.
